Hydro Test / Pneumatic Test — Calculation Verification Aid
Important Limitation:
This tool provides a calculation-based recommended minimum safety distance and supports verification against the entered distance verification criteria. The final field application shall consider project/client requirements, projectile assessment, PTW, JHA, SIMOPS assessment and approval by the Responsible Supervisor or other competent person.

Distance Verification Criteria
Optional criteria used for verification status. The highest entered value among these criteria is compared with the calculation-based recommended minimum safety distance.
Hydrostatic calculation is retained as a legacy Lloyd’s Register 96-02 / T-0240 based verification aid. It shall not replace engineering review. Trapped air, end-cap/blind failure, line-of-fire, hose whip, supports, anchors, SIMOPS and public interface must be assessed separately.
Optional criteria used for verification status. The highest entered value among these criteria is compared with the calculation-based recommended minimum safety distance.

ASME PCC-2 Basis
V = π × (Di / 1000)² / 4 × Li, unless known total volume is entered.
Pat = Pt(gauge) + Pa, in absolute pressure.
E = [1 / (k − 1)] × Pat × V × [1 − (Pa / Pat)((k−1)/k)]
For air or nitrogen where k = 1.4: E = 2.5 × Pat × V × [1 − (Pa / Pat)0.286]
TNT = E / 4,266,920 kg
R = Rscaled × TNT1/3
ASME PCC-2 Article 5.1 Mandatory Appendix III requires the personnel distance to be the greater of the energy-band minimum distance and the scaled distance equation. Default Rscaled is 20 m/kg1/3. For E > 271 MJ, the distance is calculated by the equation and additional risk evaluation / engineering review is required.
Final Field Application Rule: The exclusion zone applied on site shall consider the calculation-based recommended minimum safety distance, project/client minimum requirement, JHA result, SIMOPS restriction, fragment/projectile assessment, and Responsible Supervisor / competent person approval.
Important Limitation: This report verifies the calculation-based recommended minimum safety distance against the entered project/client requirements, projectile assessment and proposed exclusion zone. Final field application shall be confirmed by the Responsible Supervisor or other competent person before the pressure test.
